Banque Misr Announces Interest Rate Cuts on Savings Certificates Effective September 1, 2025

Banque Misr has announced a reduction in interest rates on a range of its Egyptian pound and US dollar-denominated savings certificates, effective from September 1, 2025, and applicable to new issuances only.
Under the revised structure, the bank has adjusted returns on both short-term and long-term products to reflect evolving market dynamics.
Egyptian Pound Certificates
Al-Qimma 3-Year Certificate: reduced from 18.5% to 17% (fixed monthly return).
“Ibn Misr” 3-Year Declining Certificate:
- Year 1: 20.5% (previously 23%)
- Year 2: 17% (previously 19.5%)
- Year 3: 13.5% (previously 16%)
US Dollar Certificates
US Dollar Certificates (3-Year)
- Monthly: 4.75% (down from 5.15%)
- Quarterly: 4.77% (down from 5.20%)
- Semi-annual: 4.80% (down from 5.25%)
- Annual: 4.85% (down from 5.30%)
US Dollar Certificates (5-Year)
- Monthly: 4.85% (down from 5.00%)
- Quarterly: 4.87% (down from 5.05%)
- Semi-annual: 4.90% (down from 5.10%)
- Annual: 4.95% (down from 5.15%)
The move comes as Egyptian banks continue to adjust savings instruments in response to monetary policy shifts and wider economic developments. Banque Misr emphasized that these changes apply solely to new certificates issued from September 1 onward, while existing certificates will remain unaffected.
