The National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) has successfully concluded the third phase of the Afro-Asian Forum for Innovation and Technology (AAFFIAT) national qualifiers, hosted at its state-of-the-art premises in Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital. Held under the patronage of Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, the competition marks a key milestone in the country’s strategy to foster youth-driven digital innovation.

Organized in cooperation with Techno Space and sponsored by Telecom Egypt, Phase III aimed to identify the standout teams that will represent Egypt in the AAFFIAT World Finals to be held in Malaysia in October 2025.

Bringing together 516 young innovators from across the country, this phase saw 75 teams compete across 11 advanced technology and innovation tracks, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics, animation, entrepreneurship, digital marketing, and documentary filmmaking. The event culminated in the announcement and recognition of the winning teams, who were honored in a closing ceremony at NTI.

This final national round followed Phases I and II, which were held over a seven-month period earlier this year. Across all phases, a total of 1,473 participants forming 278 teams engaged in 22 innovation challenges, showcasing Egypt’s vibrant ecosystem of emerging tech talent.

NTI’s leadership emphasized that hosting the national competition reflects its mission to empower youth with digital tools, cultivate innovation, and prepare the next generation of technology leaders. Through intensive training and hands-on competitive challenges, the AAFFIAT qualifiers provide young Egyptians with the opportunity to enhance their technical knowledge, creativity, and teamwork capabilities.

Notably, Egypt was the host of the first-ever AAFFIAT global competition in Luxor in 2019. Since then, the forum has grown into a leading regional platform aligned with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s broader vision of integrating emerging technologies into education to accelerate digital transformation and sustainable development.

As Egypt now looks ahead to the international finals in Malaysia, the country reaffirms its role as a regional leader in tech talent development and youth innovation
