As artificial intelligence redefines the global software industry and accelerates DevOps transformation, Egypt is rapidly establishing itself as a key player in software testing and quality assurance. This momentum was on full display at the 2025 edition of Software Testing Day, the country’s premier event for software quality professionals, which officially joined the ISTQB® Global Conference Network—a milestone placing Egypt among global leaders shaping the future of software testing.

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and organized by the Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC)—a division of Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA)—the event drew over 500 experts, engineers, and international thought leaders to Cairo.

Positioning Egypt as a Global QA Hub

“Software testing is more than a technical discipline—it’s a strategic pillar of Egypt’s digital transformation,” said Ahmed El-Zaher, CEO of ITIDA.
“By embracing AI, DevOps, and globally recognized certifications, Egypt is emerging as a trusted destination for offshored software quality services. The rising number of global companies choosing Egypt for their digital operations is a testament to that trust,” he added.

Backed by a strong talent pipeline, SECC—Egypt’s official ISTQB® certification body—has issued over 13,600 certifications to more than 9,000 professionals across key areas such as mobile, security, AI, and automotive systems. These credentials, aligned with international standards, support Egypt’s goal to deliver high-quality digital services on a global scale.

“Joining the ISTQB® Global Conference Network isn’t just recognition—it’s responsibility,” said Dr. Haitham Hamza, Acting Chairman of SECC. “We’re not only investing in talent development but also contributing to global testing benchmarks.”

AI in the Spotlight

In a keynote address, Dr. Klaudia Dussa-Zieger, President of ISTQB®, praised the conference’s organization and impact:
“The mix of international and local experts, the engaging atmosphere, and the energy of young professionals make this a truly outstanding event,” she noted.

During her session, “ISTQB and AI – How Do the Two Go Together?”, Dr. Dussa-Zieger explored how the ISTQB certification framework is evolving to reflect the rise of AI in software testing.

From intelligent test case generation using large language models to AI-driven analysis and ethical model validation, the conference showcased real-world applications of artificial intelligence in QA. Representatives from Microsoft, Deloitte, Expleo, and DXC highlighted how integrating AI with CI/CD pipelines boosts both speed and quality in modern software delivery.

Ten companies offered live demos of next-generation testing tools, covering everything from secure coding practices to autonomous validation systems.

Key sessions included:

“Will AI Take Your Job?” by Joel Oliveira, ISTQB Governance Chair, who argued that AI-savvy testers will lead the future.

“Test Process Improvement in the Era of AI and DevOps” by Erik van Veenendaal, Executive at TMMi, discussing how maturity models are adapting to agile and AI-centric workflows.

A Roadmap for Emerging Markets

“Through this conference and our global partnerships, we are positioning Egypt as a world-class hub for reliable, secure digital solutions,” ITIDA’s El-Zaher affirmed. “Our mission is to empower talent, fuel innovation, and align our software industry with the highest global standards.”

As demand for trustworthy software solutions continues to grow worldwide, Egypt’s strategy—combining international certification, AI integration, and regional leadership—serves as a model for emerging economies seeking a greater role in the global software ecosystem.
