Wednesday 11 June 2025 15:04

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has attended the graduation ceremony of the first cohort of the ITI Tech Law program and the official launch of its online version on the Information Technology Institute’s (ITI) Mahara-Tech platform. The event was held at ITI premises in Smart Village.

The program, the first of its kind in Egypt, integrates legal principles with cutting-edge technologies to cultivate a digitally skilled legal workforce capable of keeping pace with rapid advancements. It also aims to support the development of policies and legislation aligned with the evolving needs of the digital era, thus advancing comprehensive digital transformation and contributing to establishing a legislative environment that drives the digital economy.

The graduation ceremony was attended by President of the State Lawsuits Authority (SLA) Abdel-Razak Shoaib, alongside members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, and Assistant Resident Representative at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Egypt Abeer Shakweer.

The first cohort included 85 trainees, comprising judges, prosecutors, advisors from the Council of State, lawyers, legal consultants, and legal affairs personnel from the public and private sectors. It also featured law faculty graduates and academic staff interested in specializing in IT-related legal aspects. Participants received specialized training covering topics such as intellectual property, data security, digital transformation, and IT-related legislation.

In his speech, the ICT Minister emphasized that the ITI Tech Law program reflects the ICT sector’s emerging trend. He noted that the ICT sector is no longer confined to graduates of engineering or computer science faculties, but is increasingly open to individuals from different disciplines and professional backgrounds. He explained that acquiring ICT skills has become as essential as reading and writing for anyone aspiring to professional excellence.

Talaat highlighted that the program is the first of its kind, specifically designed to empower legal professionals, including lawyers, legal specialists, and members of the judiciary, with in-depth ICT knowledge. This, he pointed out, will enable them to carry out their responsibilities more efficiently and in alignment with their career aspirations.

Furthermore, the ICT Minister stated that ITI has agreed to introduce similar training programs targeting professionals from various fields and academic backgrounds, including physicians, accountants, and engineers from non-IT specializations. In addition, more specialized courses will be offered to legal professionals, aiming to qualify them to harness and leverage technology in a modern manner that meets the evolving demands of their legal responsibilities.

During the event, ITI Chairwoman Heba Saleh had an open discussion with several program graduates, who shared their experiences and gained insights. The speakers also underlined the importance of cultivating practical and technical skills, along with research and legislative concepts that would allow them to actively contribute to shaping future legal frameworks.

It is worth noting that the program’s launch comes as part of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s (MCIT) efforts to support initiatives that integrate technology across all professional fields and bridge the gap between technology and the legal field.

Moreover, the launch of the program’s online version on Mahara-Tech aims to make the specialized training content accessible to a wider pool of interested individuals. This contributes to establishing a genuine and sustainable connection with legal professionals through customized knowledge resources that cater to the evolving needs of legal specialists amid the ongoing digital transformation.
