British Visitor Numbers to Egypt Reach 838,000 Through September 2026

The UK continues to rank among Egypt’s most important tourism source markets, with approximately 838,000 British visitors travelling to the country between January and September 2026.

Haitham Arafa, a Board Member of the Chamber of Tourism Companies and head of its Training Committee, shared the figures during WTM London 2026, held from November 3 to 6. He expects British arrivals to surpass the total recorded last year, pointing to sustained interest in Egypt as a holiday destination.

UK Market Records Strong Growth in Egyptian Tourism

Egypt attracted around 1.1 million British tourists in 2025, an increase of 17% from the previous year, according to Arafa.

He described Egypt’s role as a key partner at WTM London as an important step in strengthening its relationships with international tour operators and airlines, while raising awareness of the country’s tourism offering among British travellers.

London Campaign Promotes Egypt’s Diverse Tourism Experiences

Alongside the exhibition, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities launched a large-scale promotional campaign across London to increase the visibility of Egypt as a destination.

Rather than concentrating on one tourism category, the campaign addresses a range of visitor preferences and highlights the diversity of experiences available across the country.

The campaign uses several marketing channels, including outdoor advertising and digital displays at underground stations and major locations, as well as digital advertising and social media platforms.

Egypt Seeks to Expand Its Global Tourism Reach

Arafa said the continued growth in British arrivals underlines the need to improve tourism promotion and communicate the range of products and experiences offered by Egypt.

He noted that the country’s participation in the London event has a broader objective beyond the UK market: strengthening Egypt’s international profile in cultural tourism and showcasing its distinctive historical and civilizational attractions.

This approach is intended to diversify inbound visitor flows and reinforce Egypt’s competitiveness in the global tourism industry.

Tourism Ministry Focuses on International Market Presence

Arafa praised Tourism and Antiquities Minister Sherif Fathy for supporting Egypt’s participation in international tourism exhibitions and adopting innovative promotional methods tailored to different source markets.

He said the country’s presence at WTM London 2026 reflects the ministry’s efforts to attract more international visitors and strengthen Egypt’s standing as a leading global tourism destination.
