The Egyptian Customs Authority, under the Ministry of Finance and headed by Ahmed Amouy, has announced new requirements for the Nafza platform, which is used to digitize customs procedures at ports and customs outlets.

Starting Thursday, October 29, 2026, electronic signatures and electronic seals will be required when creating a new authorization by the concerned party, as well as when the authorization is reviewed and approved by the customs clearance office.

According to a notice issued by the Nafza platform and reviewed by Al Mal, users have been urged to review all relevant documents and ensure that their electronic signatures and seals are valid and ready before the new requirements take effect.

The authority said the preparations are intended to ensure the smooth continuation of operations and prevent potential delays or disruptions in future customs procedures and licensing processes.

Electronic Certificates of Origin for Libya

In a related development, the Egyptian Customs Authority issued Agreements Circular No. 28 of 2026 concerning the implementation of a letter from the Head of the Foreign Trade and Agreements Sector at the Ministry of Investment.

The circular provides for the issuance of approved electronic certificates of origin for Libya under the Agreement on the Facilitation and Development of Inter-Arab Trade.

The measure is part of efforts to activate the unified digital system for trade certificates, which was launched in cooperation with the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture and has been in operation since April 1.
