Launch of the DEDI Challenge to Support Environmental and Climate Innovation in Cooperation Between Creativa Innovation Hubs and UNDP
Creativa Innovation Hubs, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Egypt, announced the launch of the "DEDI Challenge for Innovation Support." The initiative aims to develop innovative digital and technological solutions to address environmental and climate challenges, with applications open until October 23.
Strategic Partnership Targeting Youth
The challenge is executed in partnership with the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) affiliated with ITIDA, as part of the Danish-Egyptian Dialogue Initiative and with support from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The initiative targets youth aged 18 to 35, allowing individual applications or teams of up to five members.
Training Bootcamps and Business Incubation
The challenge offers participants intensive training bootcamps (online and in-person) across 12 governorates to build and refine scalable green business models and test prototypes. Outstanding projects will also have the opportunity to join a comprehensive incubation program to launch their startups and receive certified credentials.
5 Key Targeted Sectors
The challenge focuses on developing solutions across five core sectors: energy, transportation, water, agriculture, and waste management, supporting the transition toward a green economy and sustainable development.
Information Sessions and Application Requirements
Introductory sessions will take place across governorates between October 18 and 21 (Alexandria, Damanhour, and Mansoura on Oct 18; Cairo, Giza, Ismailia, and Damietta on Oct 19; Minya, Qena, and Aswan on Oct 21). Applicants must have completed a previous idea-development bootcamp, submit a prototype or proof of concept, and present a fully completed business model canvas.
