Samsung has officially unveiled its new Galaxy Tab S12 tablet lineup, introducing the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ while once again leaving out a standard Galaxy Tab S12 model.

Both tablets are powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset and feature a new cooling system designed to support performance.

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is the larger model, featuring a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 2,800 x 1,752-pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. At just 5.1mm thick, Samsung describes it as the thinnest Galaxy Tab the company has released. The Wi-Fi version weighs 692 grams, while the 5G model weighs 695 grams.

The Galaxy Tab S12+ comes with a 12.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, offering a 2,960 x 1,848-pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It measures 5.3mm in thickness and weighs between 553 and 555 grams depending on the connectivity version.

Both displays can reach a peak brightness of 1,600 nits, while High Brightness Mode reaches up to 1,000 nits.

Storage, Battery and Connectivity

Samsung offers the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage, while the S12+ supports up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

The Ultra model packs an 11,600mAh battery, compared with 10,600mAh in the S12+. Both tablets support 45W charging. Samsung estimates up to 23 hours of continuous usage for the Ultra and up to 21 hours for the Plus.

With a compatible 45W charger, a full charge is said to take around 95 minutes. Both models also support microSD cards with capacities of up to 2TB.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7 on the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Wi-Fi 6E on the S12+. The Ultra features 13MP and 8MP rear cameras, while the Plus model has a single 13MP rear camera.

Both tablets support Bluetooth 6.0 and are available in 5G configurations with nano-SIM and eSIM support. They also feature four speakers, an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, an in-display fingerprint sensor and an included S Pen.

The Galaxy Tab S12 series runs Android with Samsung’s One UI 9 interface. Galaxy AI features are included alongside a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, while Adobe Photoshop comes pre-installed with a four-month mobile subscription trial.

Samsung is also promising up to seven major Android and One UI upgrades, along with seven years of security updates.

The Galaxy Tab S12 series will launch in select markets from October 7, with gray and silver color options.

In the United States, the Galaxy Tab S12+ starts at $1,199, while the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra starts at $1,399.
