US Appeals Court Upholds Pentagon Ban on Anthropic Over Refusal to Strip Claude AI Guardrails

The 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice ("Abu Dhabi 2026") kicked off Saturday at the ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, running through October 1.

The global gathering draws around 5,000 participants from 97 countries, including ministers, senior officials, experts, government and civil society representatives, as well as academics, researchers, and youth delegates. Among the attendees are 32 justice and interior ministers, alongside 93 expert keynote speakers.

Supporting Socio-Economic and Environmental Development

The congress focuses on accelerating international momentum in crime prevention, advancing criminal justice, and upholding the rule of law under the theme: "Accelerating crime prevention, criminal justice and the rule of law: Protecting people and planet and achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the digital age."

Discussions center around four primary pillars: crafting innovative, evidence-based crime prevention strategies that support socio-economic and environmental development; fostering people-centered, inclusive, and resilient criminal justice systems; countering organized crime, terrorism, and new, emerging, and evolving forms of crime; and consolidating cooperation, partnerships, technical and material assistance, and capacity-building at national, regional, and international levels.
