Egypt’s Renewable Energy Capacity Rises 5.8% to 9.1 GW in FY 2025/2026
Egypt's total renewable energy installed capacity grew by 5.8% during the fiscal year 2025/2026 (ended June 2026), reaching approximately 9.1 gigawatts (GW), up from 8.6 GW in FY 2024/2025, according to data from Egypt's New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA).
Total electricity generated from renewable sources increased by roughly 8.75% during the same period to reach 34.8 terawatt-hours (TWh), compared to 32 TWh in the preceding fiscal year.
The figures underscore the sustained expansion of Egypt’s clean energy sector over recent years across both generation and installed capacity.

According to NREA, the total operational capacity across projects in the domestic renewable energy market has reached approximately 9.6 GW, complemented by around 500 megawatt-hours (MWh) of battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity.
