Egypt Eyes $80 Million Untapped Export Opportunities in Frozen Potato Sector
The Egyptian Food Export Council has revealed that there are untapped export opportunities for Egypt’s exports of prepared or preserved frozen potatoes, estimated at approximately $80 million. The Council emphasized that the Egyptian product possesses strong competitive advantages that qualify it to expand further into several global markets.
This announcement was made during an online webinar organized by the Council to review export opportunities for frozen potatoes under the Harmonized System code (HS Code 200410). The event is part of the Council's ongoing efforts to equip Egyptian companies with specialized market data, enabling them to make informed export decisions backed by comprehensive market analysis and global demand trends.
The Council explained that global imports of prepared or preserved frozen potatoes reached nearly $14.2 billion during 2025, reflecting sustained international demand for this product. The European Union, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia stand out as the most promising regions for Egyptian exports.
Furthermore, it noted that Saudi Arabia, Italy, and Libya lead the list of countries with the highest growth potential. Capturing these opportunities will require intensifying trade presence, developing value-added products, and adhering to strict international quality standards. This strategic focus will ultimately elevate the competitiveness of Egyptian exports and open up fresh markets for local manufacturers.
