F5 Launches AI Security Platform and Acquires SurePath AI to Safeguard Enterprise AI Ecosystems
F5 (NASDAQ: FFIV), a global leader in securing and delivering applications and APIs, announced today the launch of the F5 AI Security Platform. The new platform is designed to provide Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) with continuous visibility, robust governance capabilities, and comprehensive protection spanning enterprise AI applications, models, agents, and the APIs that connect them.
Concurrently, the company announced its acquisition of SurePath AI, a startup specializing in discovering AI applications across networks, analyzing and classifying their usage, and monitoring ungoverned AI tools. SurePath AI will serve as a foundational pillar of the new F5 AI Security Platform, empowering organizations with heightened levels of protection for their AI deployments.
The new platform adopts a continuous lifecycle approach that encompasses the governance, discovery, testing, and protection of enterprise AI workloads, thereby expanding F5’s application delivery and security strategy to include enterprise-grade AI applications. Drawing on its global cybersecurity expertise, F5 recognized the unique demands of deploying AI within large enterprises. Consequently, the F5 AI Security Platform was engineered to support diverse operating environments, including on-premises, air-gapped systems, private clouds, hybrid clouds, and public clouds. This flexibility grants enterprises greater control over AI security in environments where data residency, digital sovereignty, and operational mandates are non-negotiable.
Today, AI systems operate with levels of privilege, autonomy, and speed that surpass even those granted to highly privileged human users within organizations, presenting novel challenges for cybersecurity teams and business leaders alike. F5 noted that a prompt injection attack, a data leak, or a smart AI agent overstepping its authorized boundaries could expose sensitive information, disrupt critical operations, or severely undermine customer trust.
