Telecom Egypt CEO Honors Outstanding WE Applied Technology Schools Students at WE Shine Ceremony
Tamer El Mahdy, Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt, honored outstanding students from WE Applied Technology Schools during the closing ceremony of the academic activities and capstone projects for the 2025–2026 academic year, held under the title “WE Shine” at Nile University.
The event celebrated the achievements of students throughout the academic year and recognized those who demonstrated excellence in both academic performance and practical skills.
WE Applied Technology Schools, sponsored by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, have become a successful model for combining academic learning with hands-on training, offering students real opportunities to acquire the technical expertise and professional skills required by the labor market.
The ceremony highlighted Telecom Egypt’s commitment to supporting applied technology education and contributing to the development of a new generation equipped with knowledge, practical capabilities, and innovation skills in line with Egypt’s digital transformation agenda.
Throughout the 2025–2026 academic year, students from WE Applied Technology Schools worked on more than 500 capstone projects under the supervision of specialized engineers at the schools. The projects underwent an intensive development and evaluation process before judging panels comprising university professors, engineers, and industry experts.
Following the evaluation stages, the top 90 projects were selected, with Galaxy Development, one of the academic partners of WE Applied Technology Schools, managing and organizing the final ceremony and competition stages in coordination with several training institutions.
The process concluded with the selection of the top 15 projects to participate in the final exhibition, before six winning projects were chosen across all WE schools nationwide.
Speaking during the event, El Mahdy said WE Shine reflects Telecom Egypt’s vision of investing in human capital and developing a new generation of digital talent capable of leading the future of the digital economy.
“The innovative projects we are witnessing today under the Capstone program reflect the advanced academic level and applied skills acquired by students,” El Mahdy said. “They also confirm the success of WE Schools in delivering an advanced educational model that meets the needs of local and international labor markets.”
He added that Telecom Egypt believes investment in education is an investment in the nation’s future, stressing that the company will continue developing this educational model in cooperation with its partners, particularly the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
“Our goal is to graduate generations of creators and innovators capable of supporting Egypt’s competitiveness and contributing effectively to the objectives of Digital Egypt and the development of a knowledge- and innovation-based economy,” he said.
For his part, Amr Basila, Head of the Central Administration for Technical Education Development and Director of the Applied Technology Schools Operation and Management Unit, said WE Shine underscores the importance of cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, national institutions, and development partners.
He noted that celebrating students’ achievements is not only a recognition of excellence, but also evidence of the success of Egypt’s vision to transform technical and technological education into an environment that supports creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
The event reaffirmed the role of WE Applied Technology Schools in preparing qualified national talent capable of meeting labor market requirements and keeping pace with the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
