Central Bank of Egypt: Total Equity and Liabilities Reach EGP 6.82 Trillion in May 2026
The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced its latest financial position indicators today, reporting that its total equity and liabilities recorded approximately EGP 6.82 trillion by the end of May 2026. This marks a steady upward trend in the central bank's overall financial footprint.
According to the newly released data, the combined total of liabilities and equity grew by 1.2% during the month of May. This increase reflects an expansion from the EGP 6.74 trillion recorded at the end of the preceding month, April 2026.
Key Financial Movement: While the broader balance sheet demonstrated growth driven by total liabilities, the equity segment experienced a contraction. Total equity stood at EGP 281.107 billion by the end of May, a decrease from the previous month.
The overall expansion of the CBE's balance sheet underscores the ongoing financial dynamics and monetary operations within the Egyptian banking sector.
