Egypt’s ICT Minister Inspects Samsung’s $100M Mobile Manufacturing Facility in Beni Suef

During an official visit to Beni Suef Governorate, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Raafat Hindi, inspected the manufacturing facility of Samsung Electronics, which produces mobile phones and tablets as part of the company’s expanding operations in Egypt.

The factory, located within Samsung’s industrial complex in Beni Suef, spans approximately 9,000 square meters and represents total investments of around $100 million. It has a maximum production capacity of 6 million devices annually, serving both the local market and export destinations across regional and international markets. The facility also provides approximately 1,500 direct and indirect job opportunities.

Samsung began its manufacturing operations in Egypt in 2022 with the production of educational tablets, reaching an initial capacity of around 700,000 units. In 2025, the company expanded its footprint by launching a dedicated factory for mobile phone production alongside tablets.

During the visit, Won Kim, Chairman of Samsung Egypt, presented an overview of the plant’s production performance. In 2025, the facility produced approximately 2.2 million smartphones and 600,000 tablets for the domestic market, including the latest device models launched simultaneously with global markets.

The minister also reviewed the company’s 2026 production plans, which aim to further scale output to meet growing domestic demand and boost exports.

Raafat Hindi emphasized that Samsung is among the early global partners supporting Egypt’s strategy to localize electronics manufacturing. He noted that the company’s expanding investments reflect strong confidence in Egyptian talent and the country’s improving investment climate.

He added that the factory represents a successful model of collaboration between the government and private sector, combining global expertise with local capabilities. The initiative also aligns with national efforts to build a skilled workforce, particularly in Upper Egypt, and enhance the competitiveness of the local electronics industry.

The visit forms part of a broader tour that includes the inauguration and inspection of multiple ICT, postal, and digital infrastructure projects across the governorate, reinforcing Egypt’s ambition to position itself as a regional hub for electronics manufacturing and exports.
