Egypt Ranks 11th Globally in Chocolate Exports, Generating $295 Million in 2025

Egypt ranked 11th globally among exporters of HS Code 180631, which covers filled chocolate bars and blocks, in 2024, according to the Food Export Council.

The council stated that Egypt’s total chocolate exports reached approximately $295 million in 2025, with HS Code 180631 accounting for around $251 million, representing 85% of Egypt’s total chocolate exports.

During a seminar titled “Opportunities and Potential for Exporting Chocolate to International Markets,” the council highlighted the continuous growth of the global chocolate market, driven by rising demand for value-added food products. This trend, it noted, opens significant opportunities for Egyptian exports in the coming years.

The council also revealed that global chocolate imports reached about $7 billion in 2024, with total quantities estimated at around one million tons, at an average price of $6,395 per ton.

Data further showed that the value of global imports grew at an annual rate of 11% between 2020 and 2024, compared with a 3% increase in import volumes, reflecting the strong and sustained global demand for chocolate products.

According to the council, global demand for chocolate is concentrated in several key markets, led by the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, the Netherlands, France, Poland, Belgium, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, and Romania, which together account for about half of global demand for the product.
