Vodafone Egypt: We Now Operate the Largest 5G Coverage Footprint Nationwide

Vodafone Egypt announced significant progress in expanding its fifth-generation (5G) network across the country, confirming that it currently operates the widest active 5G coverage footprint in Egypt compared to all other telecom operators.

Ayman Gaber, Head of Software Development at Vodafone Egypt, stated during his participation in Engineerex Summit 2025 that the company has successfully deployed 5G services across most major governorates. He emphasized that the network is now available in the majority of high-density and high-economic-activity areas, reflecting Vodafone’s commitment to providing advanced telecommunications technologies on a broad nationwide scale rather than in limited geographic zones.

Gaber noted that market data clearly reflects Vodafone’s leadership. He explained that if the Egyptian market currently has around 100 active 5G connections, nearly 70 percent of them operate on Vodafone’s network. This, he said, highlights customers’ confidence in the network’s reliability and its ability to deliver fast, stable performance.

He stressed that the expansion of 5G is not a project with a defined endpoint, describing it as a continuous journey that evolves alongside technological advancement and market demand. Vodafone’s strategic objective, he added, is to extend 5G availability to as many areas nationwide as possible in the coming phase.

Achieving this goal, Gaber explained, requires close coordination with the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), particularly regarding spectrum allocation, the backbone of all mobile networks. Vodafone continues to work with the NTRA to ensure the availability of suitable frequencies that support efficient 5G deployment while meeting the rapidly growing demand for data and increased network capacity.

He emphasized that all 5G expansion plans operate within clear regulatory frameworks set by the NTRA, reaffirming Vodafone’s full compliance. At the same time, the company is pursuing a competitive vision that aims to maintain its leadership and widen its technological edge over other market players.

Beyond geographic expansion, Gaber said Vodafone is placing strong emphasis on network quality, proactively addressing coverage gaps and performance challenges in certain areas. The company relies on advanced tools, including artificial intelligence and data analytics, to identify congestion zones or weak-signal areas and resolve them ahead of time.

Vodafone’s investment roadmap for the next two years, including 2026, includes additional expenditure on network development, service-quality enhancement, and improving reliability, particularly in areas with heavy usage or rapidly increasing demand for mobile data.

While acknowledging that any telecom network worldwide may face challenges in certain locations, Gaber stressed that the real differentiator lies in rapid response and a clear, ongoing improvement strategy. Vodafone, he said, continuously evaluates and upgrades its network to provide customers with the best possible experience.

Gaber concluded by reaffirming Vodafone Egypt’s commitment to sustaining its leadership in the telecommunications market. This will be achieved not only through accelerating 5G rollout, but also by investing in infrastructure, collaborating with regulatory bodies, and adopting advanced technologies that ensure robust, stable connectivity to support Egypt’s long-term digital transformation.
