Epson Launches “ReCreators” Student Recycling Art Contest to Celebrate International Sustainability Day

Epson, a global leader in technology and innovation, has announced the launch of the Epson ReCreators Contest, a regional sustainability initiative debuting on International Sustainability Day. The contest invites school students aged 10 to 15 to design and create original artworks using recycled materials — including printed paper — and submit their entries through a dedicated online platform.

The initiative will run across selected schools in Morocco, South Africa, Tunisia, Türkiye, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, with winning students receiving an Epson prize bundle featuring an EcoTank Printer, a Home Cinema Projector, and official merchandise from Epson brand ambassador Shakira. Selected artworks will also be featured on Epson’s social media channels and showcased at its regional offices.

Blending the ideas of “Recycle” and “Create,” the ReCreators contest empowers young people to become changemakers who transform waste into meaningful works of art. Through the campaign’s guiding message — Reuse > Create > Inspire — students are encouraged to reimagine discarded materials and express creativity with purpose.

“At Epson, creativity and care are at the heart of everything we do,” said Husam Alzughayyar, Sales Manager for the Middle East & Country Manager for Saudi Arabia at Epson. “This competition challenges students to see recycled materials as raw material for imagination. It’s more than an art exercise — it’s a lesson in responsibility, awareness, and the power of small actions to make a real difference for our planet.”

Aligned with Epson META-CWA’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the campaign advances:

SDG 4: Quality Education, by encouraging creative learning and skills development.

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, by promoting re-use and circularity.

SDG 13: Climate Action, through climate literacy and positive behavioral change.

The ReCreators contest will be promoted through digital storytelling, school partnerships, and a series of interviews with educators, judges, and student participants. At its core, the program aims to inspire the next generation to see the potential in waste — proving that creativity and sustainability can go hand in hand in shaping a better, cleaner future.
