Signify illuminates the Grand Egyptian Museum with the latest intelligent lighting control technology to enhance the preservation of heritage and visitor experience

Signify Egypt, the world leader in the field of lighting, announced its success in implementing a huge project for intelligent lighting control inside the Grand Egyptian Museum, one of the largest and most important cultural edifices in the world, reflecting the company's constant commitment to preserving cultural heritage and promoting tourism experiences by relying on the tools and mechanisms of modern technology.

The project confirms the continued implementation of Signify's vision, which aims to employ the latest smart lighting solutions in support of major cultural projects. By taking advantage of the flexibility of the lighting control system through Philips Dynalite technology, the lighting levels can be adjusted to suit the requirements of buildings with complex and versatile uses for this multifunctional edifice.

Signify designed, supplied and implemented an advanced lighting control system in the museum, which included the operation of more than 30,000 lighting units and the installation of 10,000 Philips Dynalite system devices, including motion and light sensors, DALI-2 certified controllers, dedicated control panels for users, in addition to the main management program head-end System Manager. The entire system was integrated with the building management system (BMS) to ensure the efficiency of daily operation and maintenance, while preparing different lighting scenes for each hall commensurate with its changing uses, such as permanent display, special events, or maintenance periods.

This system is characterized by its ability to adjust the lighting levels inside the halls, galleries and corridors according to the level of natural lighting available, giving visitors a high-end and harmonious visual experience that at the same time preserves valuable artifacts.

Commenting on this, Mohamed Saad, CEO of Signify Africa, said: “At Signify, we are proud to contribute to the lighting of the Grand Egyptian Museum, one of the greatest cultural projects not only in Egypt but in the whole world, through Philips Dynalite's intelligent lighting control solutions. We were able to provide an integrated system that allows lighting management with high efficiency and flexibility, ensuring the preservation of artifacts and giving visitors an exceptional experience," he added: "The project reflects our firm commitment to supporting national projects in Egypt, and providing sustainable technology and global innovation that integrates heritage conservation and future foresight, in line with our vision as a global leader in the field of smart lighting, and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of Egypt's Vision 2030."

This project is considered a global model for the application of sustainable lighting within cultural facilities, where the Philips Dynalite system relies on motion sensors and natural light to automatically reduce energy consumption, which contributes significantly to reducing the museum's carbon footprint without affecting the quality of lighting or preserving artifacts. Thanks to DALI and DyNet technologies, the museum has the ability to reprogram lighting units very easily, which provides complete flexibility to modify future uses of spaces or add new equipment as needed.

To ensure the implementation of the solutions with the highest technical and aesthetic quality standards, the project was implemented in cooperation with Modernlite, and under the direct supervision of the Segnify team. This cooperation also reflects the success of the partnership between Signify and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in implementing one of the most important cultural projects in Egypt's modern history, while at the same time confirming the company's ability to support the state's efforts to protect heritage and enhance the role of technology in supporting the tourism and cultural sector.

With this achievement, Signify establishes its position as a reliable technical partner in major cultural projects in Egypt and the world, and continues its leading role in providing smart and sustainable lighting solutions that serve the present and preserve the legacy of the past.
