Ghana to Host First Regional Edition of FDC Summit in Collaboration with Africa Center for Digital Transformation

In a landmark step towards advancing Africa’s digital economy, the FDC Summit, a leading regional platform for the digital industry, announced the launch of its first African edition in Ghana’s capital, Accra, in partnership with the Africa Center for Digital Transformation (ACDT).

The event, scheduled for November 26–27, underscores the Summit’s ambition to cement its position on the global map of specialized exhibitions and conferences, while reflecting Ghana’s emergence as a regional hub for digital policy and technological innovation. The gathering aims to accelerate African digital integration and foster cooperation to shape a unified digital future.

Accra’s selection as host city highlights its strategic role in Africa’s digital journey. Situated at the crossroads of West Africa, Ghana combines geographic significance with a forward-looking vision that prioritizes cybersecurity and digital inclusion. It is also home to the Africa Center for Digital Transformation, a continental think tank driving research and policy in the sector.

Eng. Tarek Shabaka, Chairman of the Advisory Board of FDC Summit, commented:

> “Africa today stands at a critical digital crossroads, as estimates indicate that our continental digital economy could account for more than 5% of Africa’s GDP within less than two years — an achievement that would have been unimaginable a decade ago. We chose Accra because it represents an inspiring African model of a government that sees digitalization as a developmental necessity rather than a luxury.”

He added that the FDC Summit in Ghana aspires to serve as a platform for turning this ambition into actionable policies, placing Africa at the heart of global conversations on the future of technology.

From his side, Kwesi Atuahena, President of the Africa Center for Digital Transformation, said:

> “Accra’s hosting of the first edition of the FDC Summit is not merely a regional event; it marks the beginning of a new phase of African cooperation in digital transformation. This summit will serve as a bridge to close the digital divide and enable millions to participate in the digital economy. It is about positioning Africa as a leader, not a follower, in shaping our digital priorities.”

According to the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Africa’s digital economy is projected to reach USD 180 billion by the end of 2025, representing more than 5% of the continent’s GDP. This growth could directly benefit over 600,000 registered companies and more than 40 million small enterprises across the continent.

Since its inception, the FDC Summit has aimed to translate strategies into practical initiatives by uniting stakeholders from across the digital ecosystem and linking related industries. Its expansion into Ghana marks the start of a broader evolution into a regional and global platform, supporting both Egypt’s vision of integrated digital transformation and Africa’s role in the global digital economy.
