Vodafone Egypt Renews Mai Yassin’s Tenure as Corporate Communications and Sustainability Lead
Vodafone Egypt has renewed its agreement with Mai Yassin, keeping her in her current leadership role overseeing the company’s external communications and sustainability activities, extending a career with the telecom operator that has now spanned more than 12 years.
The renewal maintains continuity across two areas that have become increasingly interconnected within Vodafone Egypt: managing the company’s external communications and stakeholder engagement, and shaping sustainability programs that form part of its wider corporate positioning.
Yassin currently leads external communications and sustainability at Vodafone Egypt, managing the company’s relationship with the media and key stakeholders while overseeing sustainability initiatives with social and environmental dimensions.
Her continued tenure comes as corporate communications within Egypt’s telecom industry increasingly extends beyond traditional media relations, covering reputation management, stakeholder engagement and the way companies communicate their wider economic and social impact.
A Vodafone career spanning Egypt and global operations
Yassin joined Vodafone Egypt in 2014, but her career within the Vodafone ecosystem has not been limited to the Egyptian operation.
She previously held a global communications leadership role at _VOIS — Vodafone Intelligent Solutions, where she was responsible for internal and external communications across an organization of more than 20,000 employees operating in multiple markets, including Egypt, India, Romania and Hungary.
That period also saw her play a role in the global launch and development of the _VOIS brand, giving her experience in managing communications across different markets, teams and stakeholder groups.
She later brought that international experience back into Vodafone Egypt, where her responsibilities increasingly brought external communications and sustainability under a closely connected corporate agenda.
Sustainability moves closer to corporate reputation
Alongside external communications, Yassin has played a central role in Vodafone Egypt’s sustainability activities and also serves as Secretary General of the Vodafone Egypt Foundation.
Her work in this area has covered programs related to education, youth and women’s empowerment, digital inclusion and efforts to narrow gaps in access to technology.
The combination is significant because sustainability has increasingly become part of how large technology and telecom companies manage their corporate reputation rather than a separate corporate social responsibility function.
Vodafone Egypt has also been pushing environmental sustainability deeper into its operations, including efforts to reduce carbon emissions and expand the role of cleaner energy as it works toward its longer-term environmental targets.
Continuity at a changing point for Egypt’s telecom market
Yassin’s renewed tenure comes during a period of significant change for Vodafone Egypt and the wider telecom industry.
The market is moving deeper into 5G, digital identity, electronic verification, financial technology and increasingly sophisticated digital services, while operators face greater scrutiny around customer protection, sustainability and their broader role in Egypt’s digital economy.
That environment has made corporate affairs and communications more closely connected to business strategy.
For Vodafone Egypt, retaining Yassin therefore provides continuity in a function that sits at the intersection of media, corporate reputation, sustainability and stakeholder relations.
More than 12 years after joining Vodafone, her latest chapter is less about a change of title than the continuation of a role that has expanded alongside the business itself — and alongside the changing definition of corporate communications in one of Egypt’s most closely watched industries.
