Mai Yassin Takes Wider Corporate Affairs Role at Vodafone Egypt, Adding Foundation to Her Remit
Vodafone Egypt has appointed Mai Yassin as Head of Corporate Affairs, expanding her responsibilities beyond external communications and sustainability to bring a broader set of corporate and social-impact functions under her leadership.
The new role marks a significant step in Yassin’s career at Vodafone Egypt, where she has spent more than a decade building experience across corporate communications, sustainability and stakeholder engagement, including international assignments within the wider Vodafone organization.
Her expanded remit now includes corporate affairs, public relations, external communications and sustainability, while also extending to the Vodafone Egypt Foundation, bringing the company’s institutional communications and community-development agenda more closely together.
The move reflects a wider shift in the role of corporate affairs inside major telecom operators, where reputation, sustainability, stakeholder relations and social impact are increasingly managed as interconnected parts of the same corporate strategy.
From communications to a broader corporate affairs mandate
Yassin previously served as Head of External Communications and Sustainability at Vodafone Egypt, overseeing the company’s external communications, media relations and engagement with key stakeholders while also managing sustainability-related activities.
Her new position broadens that scope.
As Head of Corporate Affairs, she will now operate across a wider institutional agenda, connecting Vodafone Egypt’s corporate positioning with its communications, sustainability and community-development priorities.
That includes the Vodafone Egypt Foundation, the company’s social-impact arm, which was established in 2003 and has focused on areas including education, digital inclusion, health and community development. Vodafone says the Foundation has invested more than EGP 700 million in high-impact projects over its history.
The Foundation is currently pursuing a 2025–2030 strategy centered on digital learning, connected health and emergency response, with a target of improving 10 million lives across its programs by 2030.
More than 12 years inside Vodafone
Yassin joined Vodafone Egypt in 2014, building a career that has combined local responsibilities with international communications experience.
One of the defining stages of that career came through _VOIS — Vodafone Intelligent Solutions, where she led internal and external communications across an organization of more than 20,000 employees in markets including Egypt, India, Romania and Hungary.
Her work during that period also included helping shape and launch the _VOIS brand globally, giving her experience in managing corporate identity and communications across multiple countries and organizational structures.
She later returned to a broader role within Vodafone Egypt, where sustainability became increasingly integrated with the company’s external communications agenda.
Foundation leadership adds another dimension
Yassin has previously worked closely with the Vodafone Egypt Foundation and has held the position of Secretary General of the Foundation, giving her direct experience with the company’s community-development activities.
Bringing the Foundation within her new Corporate Affairs remit therefore builds on an existing part of her career rather than introducing an entirely new area of responsibility.
It also gives Vodafone Egypt a more unified structure for managing how its corporate reputation connects with its social and sustainability agenda.
For a telecom company operating across areas ranging from connectivity and digital services to financial technology and digital inclusion, that connection has become increasingly important.
Corporate affairs is no longer limited to communications or media relations. It increasingly sits at the intersection of business strategy, public positioning, stakeholder engagement, sustainability and the role a company chooses to play in the communities it serves.
Yassin’s appointment reflects that broader definition.
Rather than simply changing her title, Vodafone Egypt is effectively widening the scope of a role she has been building for years — placing communications, sustainability and the Foundation within a larger corporate affairs mandate.
