Huawei Launches Ultra-Resilient Intelligent Network System for Data Centers in Europe During Florence Summit 2026

Developing Digital Infrastructure in Response to AI Challenges

During the Huawei Network Summit 2026 held in Florence, Italy, Chinese ICT giant Huawei unveiled an upgraded version of its "Stellar Intelligent Fabric" system for smart networks, tailored specifically for the European market. This move aims to enhance the ability of open data center networks to manage failures and improve operational efficiency.

The announcement was made during an executive roundtable titled "Building Resilience and Shaping the Future with Intelligence: Building the Next Generation of Open Data Center Networks in Europe," featuring key tech officials and experts to address infrastructure requirements amidst the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence.

Sustainability Strategy and the "In Europe, For Europe" Approach

Pengyu Zhou, Deputy Director of Marketing and Solution Sales for Huawei's European ICT Business Unit, highlighted that the growing adoption of AI technologies will reshape global industries over the next decade, offering Europe a strategic opportunity to develop its digital infrastructure.

She explained that the new networks deliver:

High capacity and ultra-fast transmission rates.

Automated management and operation with a modular design.

High energy efficiency aligned with Europe’s sustainability strategy.

She also reiterated Huawei's commitment to its "In Europe, For Europe" approach through collaboration with local partners to build open network infrastructure.

Architectural Innovations to Eliminate Single Points of Failure

For his part, Johnny Zheng, Vice President of Data Center Network Domain at Huawei, stated that the increasing scale and complexity of data centers impose unprecedented pressure on service continuity. To address this, Huawei launched the "Stellar Intelligent Ultra-Resilient Fabric" system, based on:

Version 2.0 of the "Starry Wing" digital map.

Version 2.0 of the high-availability architecture, designed to eliminate single points of failure and protect critical workloads.

Practical Applications and Support for Open Networking Standards

Mesut Özcan, Solution Manager at KoçSistem, presented the practical results of applying the "Starry Wing" digital map to establish a multi-data center architecture and multi-path networks. This implementation enabled self-healing capabilities, ensuring uninterrupted computing services even during unexpected hardware failures at a site.

In a related context, Aldo Artigiani, Technical Lead of the Interconnect Working Group at OEHI, called for broader adoption of open Ethernet standards dedicated to AI applications and High-Performance Computing (HPC), in collaboration with ITU-T and OEHI, to boost performance and reduce the Total Cost of Ownership
