Apple Unveils $299 HomeView Smart Display With AI-Powered Home Features
Apple Introduces a New Smart Home Hub
Apple officially unveiled its new HomeView smart home display on Tuesday during its “Welcome Home” event, adding a new device to its smart home ecosystem.
The device features a 7-inch square display and comes in two configurations: a tabletop version with an integrated speaker base and a separate model designed to be mounted on a wall.
Apple began accepting pre-orders for HomeView on October 13, with the device priced at $299. Customer deliveries are expected to start on November 13, according to the product’s official page on Apple’s website.
7-Inch Liquid Retina Display
HomeView features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display connected to a dome-shaped speaker base through a stainless-steel hinge that allows users to tilt the screen.
The display supports Apple’s True Tone technology and can reach a peak brightness of 500 nits. Its brightness can also be reduced to as low as 0.3 nits, making the device suitable for placement on a bedside table.
Apple is also offering a separate HomeView version designed specifically for wall mounting.
A Central Hub for the Smart Home
Apple describes HomeView as both a central hub for the home and a personalized device for individual household members.
The display brings entertainment, communication and smart home controls together in one place. Users can play music, make FaceTime calls, monitor their homes and control automated functions through hands-free voice commands.
Apple also emphasizes privacy and security as key elements of the device’s design.
Personalized Access for Household Members
HomeView can recognize users through facial recognition and provide each person with access to personalized content across applications such as Messages, FaceTime, Calendar, Reminders and Find My.
This approach allows different household members to receive a more personalized experience when using the same home device.
Siri AI Adds More Interactive Capabilities
The device comes with a new version of Siri AI, described as a significantly more capable and interactive evolution of Apple’s voice assistant.
The updated Siri is designed to support more natural conversations, draw on broader knowledge and offer richer ways to identify music. It can also understand the content displayed on the screen.
When paired with a device that supports Apple Intelligence, HomeView can use relevant personal context, including calendar information, messages and other data available through the user’s applications, to provide more useful and personalized responses.
Four Colors for the Tabletop Model
The tabletop version of HomeView will be available in four colors: Silver, Starlight, Rose Pink and Space Gray.
The wall-mounted version will be offered in Silver and Space Gray.
With its combination of a dedicated display, AI-powered Siri capabilities and smart home controls, HomeView represents Apple’s latest move to place a more personalized interface at the center of connected homes.
