The Minister of Communications and Information Technology attended global company Ericsson’s celebration marking the 150th anniversary of its founding and 129 years of operations in Egypt. The event was held in the presence of ambassadors and high-level representatives from Sweden, the United States, Finland, and Japan, alongside leaders from the telecommunications sector, startups, and academic institutions.

A Digital Vision Centered on Human Empowerment and Growth

The Minister stressed that Egypt’s digital vision primarily aims to harness modern technology to serve citizens. This is achieved by facilitating access to digital government services, creating new growth opportunities for small enterprises, and empowering youth by equipping them with the skills required for the labor market.

Three Priorities for the Future Partnership with Ericsson

The Minister explained that expanding the deployment of 5G technologies aims to maximize both economic and societal value. He highlighted that the next phase of the partnership with Ericsson focuses on three key pillars:

Building secure, future-ready telecommunications infrastructure.

Supporting applied innovation in industry, agriculture, transportation, and healthcare.

Developing Egyptian talent through enhanced training, research, and development.

AI Applications and Network Management

The Minister noted that Artificial Intelligence plays a pivotal role in boosting network management efficiency. He affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to translating these technologies into practical solutions by testing and assessing their feasibility in collaboration with universities, startups, and telecom operators.

An Ongoing Commitment to Developing Egypt’s Digital Infrastructure

For their part, the Ambassador of Sweden to Cairo and Ericsson executives praised the historical partnership extending in Egypt since 1897. They reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting Egypt’s digital transformation agenda and delivering world-class connectivity that fosters sustainability and economic growth.
