Saudi Aramco and its technology subsidiary, Aramco Digital, have signed a series of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and strategic agreements with major global technology firms during the LEAP 2026 conference, held in Riyadh from August 31 to September 3.

The new agreements prioritize critical technological domains, including cybersecurity, industrial artificial intelligence (AI), innovation, and the localization of biotechnology. The partnerships align with Aramco’s broader strategy to expand its digital ecosystem and cultivate national industrial capabilities within the Kingdom.

Strategic Vision and Integration

Speaking at the opening of LEAP 2026, Aramco President and CEO Amin H. Nasser emphasized that the event underscores Saudi Arabia's rapid advancements in digital infrastructure and information technology. Nasser noted that the energy sector stands to be a primary beneficiary of AI integration, particularly industrial AI, which Aramco is already deploying at scale across its enterprise functions and core industrial operations.

Nasser highlighted Aramco’s unique competitive advantage: the convergence of decades of industrial and engineering expertise with advanced data science. By leveraging its 90-year operational legacy, Aramco aims to accelerate Saudi Arabia’s ambition to become a global powerhouse in AI and digital solutions, backed by specialized talent, robust infrastructure, and a supportive regulatory environment.

The Three Pillars of Industrial AI

Ahmad O. Al-Khowaiter, Aramco’s Executive Vice President of Technology and Innovation, detailed the company’s strategic framework for industrial AI, anchored on three core pillars: intelligence, trust, and scale.

Al-Khowaiter explained that Aramco utilizes AI to enhance exploration efforts, optimize production, boost reliability, accelerate engineering processes, and elevate worker safety. Concurrently, the company is laying the groundwork for scalable industrial AI by deploying secure cloud environments, resilient communication networks, and AI-driven monitoring systems embedded with strong digital ethics.

Rather than replacing human expertise, Al-Khowaiter stressed that AI serves to augment industrial knowledge by transforming raw data into actionable, high-efficiency solutions. He affirmed that achieving leadership in industrial AI requires a vast network of partnerships with tech developers, innovators, and entrepreneurs to transition theoretical ideas into practical field applications.

The agreements signed at LEAP 2026 reflect a targeted approach to bridge technological innovation with concrete industrial demands, emphasizing the development of secure, scalable digital ecosystems and localized biotech solutions.
