Egypt’s Ready-Made Garments Exports Hit $2.14B in First Seven Months of 2026
Egypt’s ready-made garment exports surged to $2.139 billion during the first seven months of 2026 (January–July), marking a 14% year-over-year increase compared to $1.869 billion in the same period of 2025, according to the Readymade Garments Export Council (RMGEC).
Council Chairman Eng. Fadel Marzouk noted that the sector’s export growth reflects a qualitative shift driven by upgraded operational technology, enhanced product quality, and strict compliance with global standards, including Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria and the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).

Across Europe, Spain led growth with an 86% increase to reach $185 million, followed by the United Kingdom (+69% to $86M), Italy (+51% to $55M), France (+45% to $48M), and Germany (+37% to $117M). Regionally, exports to Libya jumped 104% to $41 million.

Domestic vs. Foreign-Invested Enterprises
Domestically owned manufacturers drove the bulk of export activity, generating $1.337 billion (62.5% of total exports) across 749 exporting companies, up 15% from 2025. Meanwhile, foreign-invested enterprises accounted for $802 million (37.5% share) across 115 exporting companies, registering a 14% increase.
The council’s monthly report highlighted July 2026 as a particularly strong month, generating $380 million in garment exports—a 19% increase compared to July 2025.
