Nestlé Q2 Sales Top Estimates; Unveils €3 Billion Premium Water Joint Venture with Platinum Equity

Nestlé's sales grew during the second quarter of this year, slightly exceeding analysts' expectations. Concurrently, the company expects to raise approximately €3 billion ($3.43 billion) from a new joint venture with the investment firm Platinum Equity, aimed at developing its premium water and beverage business.

Buoyed by its recent performance, the world’s largest packaged food company has also upgraded its full-year organic sales growth forecast. The company now expects organic sales to grow between 3% and 4%, an upward revision from its previous guidance of "around 3%."

The "Peranel" Joint Venture

Nestlé clarified that it will hold an equal 50% stake alongside Platinum Equity in the newly formed joint venture, which will operate under the name "Peranel."

The new entity will boast a robust portfolio of over 30 brands distributed across 120 countries. Key brands transitioning into this joint venture include:

San Pellegrino

Source Perrier

Acqua Panna

Nestlé Pure Life (Global)

Various prominent local water brands.

Ongoing Strategic Restructuring

These moves come as Nestlé continues to restructure its investment portfolio under the leadership of CEO Philippe Navratil. The current strategy heavily emphasizes driving both growth and profitability by sharpening the company's focus on its core flagship brands.

This development aligns with the company's previous strategic maneuvers. In May of last year, Nestlé enlisted the services of Rothschild Bank to evaluate potential partnerships or the sale of a stake in its European water business, with the stipulation of retaining partial ownership.
