Abou Ghaly Motors and Geely Global Discuss Expanding Local Manufacturing of Geely NEVs in Egypt

Abou Ghaly Motors Group, the exclusive distributor for the Geely Galaxy NEV (New Energy Vehicle) brand in Egypt, has held extensive discussions with officials from Geely Global to explore local expansion plans. The talks focused on studying opportunities for the domestic assembly and manufacturing of new energy vehicles, aligning directly with the Egyptian government's national strategy to localize the automotive industry.

The discussions took place during a strategic visit by Alex Nan, General Manager of GAIC—a subsidiary of Geely Global—who was received by senior leadership at Abou Ghaly Motors to map out the brand's future trajectory and expansion phases in the Egyptian market.

The meeting was attended by Eng. Mohamed Abou Ghaly, CEO of Abou Ghaly Motors Group, and Eng. Tamer Kotb, Vice Chairman. Both parties reviewed the commercial performance of Geely NEVs since their official rollout in the local market last May, while exploring timelines for introducing new models to broaden the brand’s market share.

Strategic Market Significance

Alex Nan emphasized that the Egyptian market stands out as one of Geely's most crucial strategic hubs in the Middle East and Africa region. He noted that the partnership with Abou Ghaly Motors serves as a foundational pillar for achieving sustainable growth, leveraging the group’s deeply rooted expertise in the automotive sector.

Nan added that the robust commercial results achieved by the brand within such a condensed timeframe reflect the overall strength of the Egyptian market, reinforcing Geely’s confidence to inject further investments alongside its local partner.

Steps Toward Localization

Eng. Mohamed Abou Ghaly stated that the visit highlights the parent company’s dedication to its Egyptian operations and solidifies their long-standing partnership. He revealed that the upcoming phase will see the introduction of a broader lineup of Geely NEVs, complemented by the launch of executive feasibility steps to study local vehicle manufacturing in Egypt.

This directional shift, Abou Ghaly explained, aims to directly support the state's vision of expanding industrial investments, raising local component sourcing ratios, and transferring advanced automotive technologies to the domestic workforce.

Accelerated Market Success

Eng. Tamer Kotb highlighted that this high-level visit comes a mere month and a half after the official launch of Geely NEVs in Egypt, showcasing the parent company’s close tracking of the brand's rapid market adoption.

Kotb revealed that Geely NEVs secured fifth place in the local new energy vehicle market just 15 days post-launch, before climbing to third place during June. Looking ahead, the company aims to roll out more models later this year, backed by an aggressive pipeline to launch over 12 new models throughout 2027 in cooperation with Geely Global.

The deliberations ultimately underscored a joint commitment between GAIC and Abou Ghaly Motors to actively assess local manufacturing frameworks, a move expected to fortify Egypt’s position as a regional manufacturing hub for next-generation green vehicles.
