Korra Energy-Hideleco Consortium Wins Multimillion-Dollar Contracts for Egypt”s 500 kV Gulf of Suez Wind Power Grid Integration
A consortium formed by Korra Energy and the High Dam Electrical and Industrial Projects Company (Hideleco)—a leading state-backed developer of national mega-projects—has officially been awarded the contracts for Lots 1 and 3 of the strategic Gulf of Suez Wind Power Grid Connection Project. Issued by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), the project involves engineering and constructing 500 kV ultra-high voltage (UHV) overhead transmission lines.
The consortium's scope of work covers approximately 100 kilometers of transmission lines out of the project's total 350-kilometer expanse. This national grid expansion is designed to transmit renewable energy generated at the Gulf of Suez wind farms directly to the El Hawamdeya transformation substation in Giza, significantly expanding the national grid's capacity for green energy.

Project Scale and System Impact
The entire grid integration masterplan represents one of the largest power transmission initiatives currently underway in Egypt, attracting total investments valued between 12 billion and 14 billion EGP. The overall project was divided into eight competitive lots, drawing bids from major domestic and international infrastructure conglomerates.
Once fully operational, the newly expanded 500 kV grid lines will successfully unlock, transfer, and discharge over 2 Gigawatts (GW) of newly generated wind power.Operating at 500 kV—the highest operational voltage tier on the Egyptian national grid—this infrastructure upgrade scales up energy transmission efficiency, radically minimizes line-load power losses, and optimizes overall grid stability.
"Winning these contracts marks a pivotal strategic milestone that strengthens Korra Energy’s position within the heavy infrastructure and energy sectors," stated Eng. Ayman Korra, CEO of Korra Energy. "This secures a major source of growth and expands our project portfolio. Notably, this project was an unmapped, non-planned strategic addition to our pipeline for this year, showcasing the agility of our consortium and the deep trust national authorities place in our technical and operational execution capabilities."
