From Training to Export: WorkShift 2026 Summit Charts a New Course for Egypt’s Digital Workforce
As the global digital economy expands at an unprecedented pace, Egypt is positioning itself to become a premier hub for cross-border tech talent. At the heart of this transformation is the upcoming WorkShift 2026 Summit, set to take place on June 28. Designed as an execution-oriented platform, the event aims to seamlessly connect Egypt's upskilled youth with lucrative opportunities in the global freelance and remote work sectors.
Reflecting the high stakes of this national endeavor, Dr. Hoda Baraka, Advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, has been appointed as the Summit’s Honorary President. Furthermore, the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has stepped in as a strategic partner, signaling strong governmental backing for the transition toward a knowledge-based economy.
Supported by @Job (formerly El-Hareefa), the summit will gather a powerhouse of over 200 business leaders, tech experts, and policymakers. Together, they will tackle the practicalities of turning national training initiatives into sustainable income streams.
A major focal point of the summit will be the Ministry’s "Digital Egypt Generations" (DEG) program. By empowering diverse age groups with advanced tech skills, DEG is preparing a new wave of professionals to compete internationally.
"Events like WorkShift serve a crucial, complementary role. They bridge the gap between skill development and actual labor market demand, transforming learning outcomes into direct drivers of economic prosperity," explained Dr. Hoda Baraka.
This sentiment was echoed by Nermeen El-Nemr, Founder of the Summit and CEO of ManTech. El-Nemr stressed that the era of simply debating the future of work has passed. "Through WorkShift 2026, we are building an actionable ecosystem. We want to ensure that the outcomes of national upskilling programs translate directly into remote work and freelancing contracts," she stated.
By bridging the gap between qualified local professionals and the hiring needs of international corporations, WorkShift 2026 is poised to accelerate Egypt’s digital exports. The summit promises to not only generate sustainable opportunities for the youth but also to cement Egypt’s reputation as a formidable, highly capable player in the global digital services arena.
