Egypt’s FRA Licenses First Healthcare TPA Under New Unified Insurance Law
The Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), led by Dr. Islam Azzam, has granted operational licenses to three new entities, marking a significant expansion of Egypt’s non-banking financial sector. Most notably, the FRA approved the establishment of "Fawry Healthcare – Trimed," the first company dedicated to Third Party Administration (TPA) activities under the landmark Unified Insurance Law No. 155 of 2024. This move is expected to modernize healthcare management and streamline service delivery for beneficiaries through advanced digital integration.
In addition to the healthcare sector, the FRA licensed "Misr Reinsurance Brokerage" to operate within the specialized reinsurance market and authorized "Horizon for Securities and Bonds Trading" to receive subscriptions for investment funds. Dr. Azzam emphasized that these approvals are part of a broader regulatory mandate to enhance market competitiveness, attract foreign direct investment, and diversify the financial instruments available to the Egyptian public.
