Egypt’s ICT, Planning and Finance Leaders Align on Digital Transformation Deals with Global Tech Firms
Egypt is accelerating preparations for a new wave of agreements with leading global technology companies, as Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Raafat Hindi, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Dr. Ahmed Rostom, and Deputy Minister of Finance for Fiscal Policies Yasser Sobhi held a joint meeting to coordinate national efforts on digital transformation.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology headquarters, comes in line with directives from the Cabinet to finalize and prioritize upcoming agreements with major international technology players.
Officials said the planned agreements will go beyond the provision of technical services to include comprehensive programs for building digital capabilities among Egyptian youth, as well as knowledge transfer in key areas such as data centers and artificial intelligence.
Eng. Raafat Hindi emphasized that these partnerships are designed to create new job opportunities and strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional exporter of cross-border digital services. He added that the government is moving steadily toward enhancing digital sovereignty and localizing advanced technologies.
He also highlighted the critical role of the Ministries of Planning and Finance as strategic partners in supporting ICT-led investment projects, noting that the collaboration reflects a broader model of integrated government action. The Ministry of Communications, he said, continues to focus on upgrading digital infrastructure to ensure a secure and advanced technological environment that supports national development projects.
Dr. Ahmed Rostom reaffirmed that digital transformation remains a top priority within Egypt’s annual and medium-term investment plans. He noted that closer coordination with the ICT ministry aims to develop a unified vision built on accurate data as a foundation for national investment planning.
Rostom added that integrating advanced technological tools into the planning process will enhance decision-making through real-time indicators, improve resource allocation efficiency, and direct investments toward high-impact sectors. He also stressed the importance of investing in human capital and equipping the workforce with the skills required for the digital economy, describing it as a key pillar in boosting Egypt’s economic competitiveness.
For his part, Yasser Sobhi underlined the Ministry of Finance’s support for government sectors in upgrading public services, noting that the ICT sector is central to Egypt’s economic modernization and job creation. He emphasized the importance of continued coordination between ministries to improve citizen services and deliver more efficient, digitally enabled solutions.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the three ministries, including representatives overseeing digital transformation, infrastructure, budgeting, and technology projects, reflecting a coordinated national push to align policy, investment, and execution in support of Egypt’s digital economy agenda.
