Egypt’s Ministry of Planning and Ayady Seek to Bolster Startup Ecosystem and Boost Private Sector Contribution

Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Ahmed Rostom, met with Osama Saleh, Chairman of Ayady for Investment and Development, to discuss strategic frameworks for enhancing Egypt’s entrepreneurship and startup landscape. The meeting focused on accelerating the implementation of the “Startup Charter” and integrating the innovation economy into the national GDP. Minister Rostom emphasized the government's commitment, led by the Ministerial Group for Entrepreneurship, to provide specialized incentives that increase the competitiveness of Egyptian startups on a regional scale.

Osama Saleh highlighted Ayady’s success in managing a diverse investment portfolio spanning 24 governorates, focusing on high-impact sectors like microfinance and consumer finance. He noted that Ayady’s flexible investment model is designed to facilitate private sector entry, offering promising exit opportunities through strategic investors or public offerings on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX). The two leaders also explored leveraging the capabilities of the National Investment Bank (NIB) to create new funding windows and support the Ministry’s "Economic Clusters" initiative, aimed at strengthening local value chains.
