Amr Fathi: E&Mist establishes a sustainable AI strategy based on data, governance and comprehensive institutional transformation
A&Misr, the leading company in integrated ICT solutions, participated in a discussion session on the sidelines of the first edition of the Ai Everything Middle East and Africa Summit and Exhibition – Egypt 2026, under the title “Infrastructure and Large-Scale Operation of Artificial Intelligence”.
The session included a selection of experts in the field of technology and artificial intelligence, including Eng. Amr Fathi, Chief Executive Officer of the Technology and Information Systems (CTIO) sector at E&Egypt, Pastora Valero, Senior Vice President for Intergovernmental Relations at Cisco, and Eng. Mahmoud Sofrata, Vice President of Information Technology Markets Development at the Information Technology Industry Development Authority (ITIDA). The session was moderated by Neil Hughes, technical writer and producer of Tech Talks Network in the United Kingdom.
During the session, Engineer Amr Fathi stressed that E&Egypt did not start its journey with artificial intelligence recently, but was preceded by years of working on data and designing machine learning models and advanced analysis, within a continuous internal development path, before artificial intelligence turned into a global priority.
He said that the institutional restructuring in 2022 marked a new starting point, as it began an intensive phase of repeated experiments to test practical potential, up to the widespread application of artificial intelligence (AI at Scale), a transformation he described as "extry large" compared to limited initiatives.
He explained that artificial intelligence is based in essence on data quality and integration, adding: "We are a data-rich organization by the nature of our business, but the real benefit requires a unified data environment that connects all sectors," pointing out that the company is working to build this environment as the main pillar of any effective institutional expansion.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Technology and Information Systems (CTIO) Sector at E&Egypt stressed that investing in artificial intelligence is not like traditional capital spending that is recovered over years, but rather a sustainable commitment that requires continuous infusion of resources, whether in technology, human competencies or organizational structure development.
As for cybersecurity, he explained that ensuring digital protection is one of the most prominent challenges, especially with the growing reliance on technology in sensitive sectors such as networks, mobile services, electronic wallets, and mobile applications, up to human resources systems and training. He pointed out that any new application goes through careful screening stages to ensure data privacy and protect it from hacking or misuse.
He stressed in conclusion that the transformation journey is still ongoing, and that the goal is to expand the scope of use responsibly and securely, while achieving a balance between innovation and governance, and between the speed of implementation and protection requirements, stressing that the success of artificial intelligence is based on unified data, strong infrastructure, and an institutional culture ready for change.
