The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has announced that it will host its first online auction on the dedicated “Auctions” platform for premium short numbers — including triple-digit and six-digit numbers — on January 26, 2026.

According to the NTRA, six-digit numbers provide an ideal opportunity for small and emerging companies to secure a memorable short number that is easy to circulate and recall. Triple-digit numbers are reserved for large companies seeking to strengthen their brand identity and enhance visibility with clients.

The authority urged all interested participants to complete registration procedures and pay the required deposit by January 21, 2026, to ensure priority access to the auction. Flexible payment options will be available, including instant transfers via the “Instapay” application.

The NTRA highlighted that the Auctions platform is the first of its kind in the Egyptian market. It was launched to provide premium short contact numbers for customer service centers through a transparent auction mechanism, following specialized market studies that identified a gap between the supply of memorable numbers and growing market demand.

The platform aims to facilitate direct access to companies and institutions, reduce the time and effort for customers to reach services, and improve customer service quality by offering clear, easy-to-remember contact numbers for banks, telecom companies, healthcare, retail, tourism, real estate, and other sectors — ultimately enhancing response speed and service efficiency.

The launch of Auctions aligns with the NTRA’s strategy to position Egypt as a regional and global hub for contact center services and to strengthen its competitive capacity in exporting digital services, particularly amid significant growth in the ICT sector over the past decade.
