Kaspersky Reveals Growing Trend Toward a More Secure Digital Life
Aligned with World Computer Literacy Day, commemorated earlier last week, Kaspersky has highlighted a clear global shift toward stronger digital security awareness, as more users actively take control of their online safety. According to a recent Kaspersky study, the adoption of cybersecurity solutions reached record levels in 2025, with more than 90 percent of surveyed users worldwide reporting that they rely on digital protection tools in their daily lives.
The growing focus on cybersecurity comes amid an increasingly complex threat landscape. In 2025 alone, Kaspersky’s detection systems identified an average of 500,000 malicious files every day, representing a 7 percent increase compared to the previous year. These figures underscore the rising scale and sophistication of cyberthreats targeting individuals and organizations alike.
Kaspersky’s data shows that 93 percent of users globally now use at least one solution to protect their digital lives. The findings are based on a comprehensive global survey conducted across more than 20 countries in the Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America, Central America, and the Middle East. The survey included participants from diverse backgrounds and professions, provided they were aged 18 or above, used the internet at least once a week, and owned at least one personal digital device.
The study found that the primary motivation for using digital protection tools is blocking viruses, malware, and cyberattacks, cited by more than 60 percent of respondents. Protection of sensitive personal data and the desire to feel safer online followed closely, each mentioned by 53 percent of participants, forming the top three drivers behind the growing adoption of cybersecurity solutions.
To achieve these goals, users increasingly rely on a combination of tools, including antivirus software, VPN services, password managers, phone number blockers, and parental control solutions. Among all available options, antivirus programs, VPN products, and password managers emerged as the most widely used tools in 2025, reflecting a more comprehensive and layered approach to personal cybersecurity.
The latest findings also highlight a significant rise in security awareness over time. A previous global Kaspersky survey conducted in 2023 showed that only 79 percent of users worldwide relied on digital security tools at that time, confirming a strong upward trend toward more conscious and proactive digital behavior.
According to Kaspersky, this shift represents more than a reaction to rising cyberthreats. It reflects a broader cultural change in how people perceive digital safety and literacy, increasingly viewing them as essential life skills rather than technical add-ons. As digital services become inseparable from everyday life, online safety is now widely recognized as a fundamental component of personal security.
Kaspersky encourages users to continue adopting smarter and safer digital habits by using reliable security solutions, keeping operating systems and applications up to date, avoiding oversharing personal information online, and using strong, unique passwords for each service. The company also emphasizes the importance of improving digital literacy, particularly as threats such as deepfake content and AI-generated phishing attempts become more difficult to detect.
