Egypt Showcases AI Advancements, Vision for Strengthening Arab Cooperation at AI-Forward Summit 2025

Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), participated in the AI-Forward Summit 2025. The Summit was organized by the Arab Information and Communication Technologies Organization (AICTO), in cooperation with the Tunisian Ministry of Communication Technologies, from November 30 to December 3 in Tunis, Tunisia.

The Summit brought together high-level Arab and international delegations and experts in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and policies, with more than 500 participants and over 40 speakers from over 30 countries. It aimed to explore AI’s transformative role in driving innovation, economic development, and shaping inclusive, ethical, and sustainable digital futures.

During the Summit, Advisor to the ICT Minister for Technological Talents Development Hoda Baraka participated on behalf of ICT Minister Amr Talaat in three main sessions. Throughout the sessions, she showcased Egypt’s AI advancements and its vision for boosting Arab cooperation.

In the first session, titled “Unveiling the AI Landscape in the Region and Building the Regional AI Innovation Ecosystem,” Baraka underlined the importance of establishing a unified Arab AI framework based on aligning visions and policies among countries, developing a shared digital infrastructure, enhancing data governance and accountability, and investing in Arab talents capable of leading the transition toward an intelligent society. She also highlighted the priorities required to activate the Arab AI Initiative as a comprehensive framework to foster innovation.

During the second session, titled “Responsible AI and Ethics: From Guidelines to Action,” Baraka emphasized the role of UNESCO’s Readiness Assessment Methodology (RAM) in supporting the adoption of responsible AI and aligning national upskilling programs with its requirements, including integrating ethical and social considerations into training and capacity-building methodologies. She also outlined the vision of the Arab AI Working Group on the contribution of readiness reports to advancing the Arab AI Strategy and the Arab Charter on AI Ethics by providing data that helps each country determine its priorities.

In the third session, titled “Arab Women Leadership in AI,” Baraka addressed the perspectives of pioneering Arab women leaders in shaping the future of AI while underlining the significance of investing in women’s leadership across areas such as AI governance, the ethics of technology, as well as public policy development, in addition to driving innovation toward equitable and inclusive solutions. She also stated that empowering women in regulatory and decision-making roles in AI strengthens the region’s ability to develop more responsible systems that reflect societal needs.

On the sidelines of the Summit, Egypt chaired LAS’s 11th meeting of the Arab AI Working Group. In addition, participating countries and organizations presented collaboration opportunities to implement Egypt’s proposal to build capacities in responsible AI for public employees, as well as reviewing scalable local training initiatives that strengthen regional capacity-building and advance integration in the field of responsible AI.
