Huawei Marks 25 Years of Innovation and Partnership in Egypt

Huawei marked its 25th anniversary in Egypt with a grand celebration at the Great Egyptian Museum, symbolizing the connection between Egypt’s ancient heritage and its digital future. The event came on the heels of the museum’s global inauguration and showcased Huawei’s contributions and achievements over the past quarter century, reaffirming its commitment to advancing Egypt’s digital transformation and sustainable growth.

The ceremony was attended by H.E. Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology; Dr. Mohamed Shaker, former Minister of Electricity; Mr. Zhang Yachang, Minister-Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Egypt; Eng. Raafat Hindi, Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Digital Transformation; and Dr. Ahmed Khattab, Director of the National Telecommunication Institute, along with senior government officials, industry leaders, and Huawei executives from Egypt and the region. The high-level attendance underscored the deep and strategic partnership between Huawei and the Egyptian government in advancing the nation’s ICT sector and fostering sustainable development.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, congratulated Huawei’s leadership on the company’s 25-year journey in Egypt, noting that the milestone reflects the strength and dynamism of Egypt’s ICT sector. He highlighted that the Ministry has launched a series of nationwide digital capacity-building initiatives offered free of charge to all segments of society, training around 500,000 individuals in various ICT disciplines last fiscal year, with plans to expand both the number and depth of training programs this year. He emphasized Huawei’s active role as a key partner in several of these initiatives.

Benjamin Hu, CEO of Huawei Egypt, said: “For 25 years, we have been proud to support Egypt’s digital transformation journey and its Vision 2030. Guided by our commitment to For Egypt, In Egypt, we have worked side by side with the Egyptian government, the private sector, and our local partners to build a robust digital infrastructure that drives innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth. Looking ahead, Huawei will continue to accelerate Egypt’s digital journey, fostering an intelligent, sustainable, and fully connected ecosystem that creates greater value for Egypt and its people.”

Over the past quarter century, Huawei has been a strategic partner in Egypt’s digital transformation, contributing cutting-edge technologies to strengthen the nation’s digital infrastructure through telecommunications networks, cloud computing, and digitalization across key sectors such as education, healthcare, transportation, energy, and finance.

Huawei also launched Egypt’s first public cloud in Cairo, ensuring data sovereignty and safeguarding the country’s digital future. The company remains committed to sustainability through energy-efficient solutions that reduce Egypt’s carbon footprint while expanding its digital infrastructure.

Through partnerships with ministries and national institutions—including the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Labor, the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI), and the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA)—Huawei has trained over 60,000 talents and 1,700 instructors, and established 164 ICT Academies across Egyptian universities.

Reaffirming its long-term commitment to Egypt’s digital advancement, Huawei continues to drive progress through its three core pillars: Creating Real Value, Developing Advanced Infrastructure, and Building an Integrated Digital Ecosystem. These pillars are reflected in five key initiatives spanning Connectivity, Education, E-Government, Security, and Energy. By integrating AI and cloud technologies into national infrastructure and deepening collaboration with partners, clients, and local talents, Huawei is helping to build a smarter, more inclusive digital future for Egypt.
