Egypt’s ICT Minister Meets US Tech Executives to Boost Offshoring Investments and Digital Collaboration

Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, held a series of high-level meetings with executives of leading US companies in New York to explore opportunities for expanding offshoring investments in Egypt and strengthening cooperation in digital capacity building.

The discussions underscored Egypt’s competitive edge in the global offshoring industry, reinforced by the Digital Egypt Strategy for Offshoring Industry and a set of incentives designed to attract international companies to establish and scale their operations in the country.

Talaat first met with John Abou, President of TTEC Engage, to review the company’s expansion plans in Egypt. TTEC, a global leader in AI-driven customer experience solutions, operates two main divisions: TTEC Engage, focused on digital customer operations, and TTEC Digital, its technology and innovation arm. Talks centered on growing the company’s IT services footprint alongside its existing call center operations and exploring new collaboration opportunities through TTEC Digital. Earlier this year, Talaat inaugurated TTEC’s Egypt office at Maadi Technology Park, which serves global clients with multilingual Egyptian talent.

The ICT Minister also met with Balazs Toth, Vice President and Global General Manager of Honeywell, joined by Mohamed Abdallah, Operations Manager for Africa. Discussions focused on expanding Honeywell’s Global Engineering Service (GES) center in Egypt for smart city solutions, boosting local manufacturing of security cameras and other equipment, and establishing partnerships with the Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) for digital skills development.

In a meeting with Bill Behrens, Vice President and Global Head of Government Affairs at Kraft Heinz, Talaat explored the company’s plans to scale its offshoring investments in Egypt, with an emphasis on digital transformation, e-commerce, and AI-driven marketing.

The Minister also met with Jeffrey Longoria, Chief Commercial Officer of Archer, and Dan DeRosa, Chief Product and Marketing Officer, to discuss Archer’s workforce expansion in Egypt and future collaboration with EUI to develop specialized talent. Archer highlighted the success of its Cairo-based Integrated Risk Management (IRM) office, launched in 2023 as its first center in the Middle East, which delivers a wide range of multilingual services—from R&D and engineering to customer support and sales—powered by Egyptian professionals.

The meetings were attended by Ahmed Elzaher, CEO of ITIDA, Sherine El-Guindy, Assistant ICT Minister for Strategy and Implementation, and Samah Aziz, Head of the Central Department of International Relations at MCIT.

These engagements reinforce Egypt’s position as a regional hub for digital services and offshoring, while paving the way for deeper cooperation between US corporations and Egypt’s technology ecosystem.
