Egypt Participates in WTO Public Forum 2025

Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), will take part in the World Trade Organization (WTO) Public Forum 2025, held on September 17–18 at the WTO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Public Forum is the WTO’s largest annual outreach event, offering a global platform for governments, businesses, civil society, academia, international organizations, and the media to exchange views on the latest developments in global trade. This year’s edition features 77 panel discussions, with a central focus on how digital transformation is reshaping standards in the international trading system and fostering connectivity, innovation, and cooperation worldwide.

MCIT is set to participate in multiple sessions addressing trade liberalization agreements relevant to the ICT sector. These include workshops on the Joint Statement Initiative (JSI) on E-commerce, exploring the implications of its full implementation, as well as discussions on digital trade within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

In addition, the Ministry will join Finland and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in a joint session titled “From E-Waste to Impact: Building Circular Supply Chains.” The panel will highlight how international cooperation and circular trade can turn e-waste into valuable resources, enhance livelihoods, and advance sustainable development, alongside broader issues linked to WTO agreements.

Egypt’s active participation in the WTO Public Forum underscores its commitment to contributing to global policy dialogue on trade liberalization and digital trade, while reinforcing its role in shaping the future of ICT-driven economic growth at regional and international levels.
