In a landmark move to boost female participation in Egypt’s tech ecosystem, Capgemini has partnered with the American University in Cairo’s (AUC) Onsi Sawiris School of Business Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) to launch Digitelles Misr, a one-year program aimed at equipping 100 women with in-demand skills in artificial intelligence and digital marketing.

Targeting women from Greater Cairo and surrounding governorates, the initiative is designed to build a pipeline of female digital talent and freelancers capable of thriving in the fast-evolving digital economy. The program will provide participants with technical training as well as the tools needed to work remotely—offering a flexible and empowering career path while addressing societal barriers such as transportation limitations and work-life balance challenges.

“Empowering women through digital freelancing is a step toward building a more inclusive workforce,” said Dr. Sherif Kamel, Dean of the AUC Onsi Sawiris School of Business. “This partnership with Capgemini allows us to provide real-world, market-relevant skills that enable women to overcome traditional limitations and take on leadership roles in Egypt’s digital future.”

Hossam Seifeldin, CEO of Capgemini Egypt, echoed the program’s broader impact: “Capgemini is committed to creating a sustainable and inclusive future. This initiative builds not only skills but a connected community of women who are empowered to take control of their careers—on their own terms, in their own space.”

The initiative comes at a time of growing demand for freelance opportunities among Egypt’s youth, fueled by nationwide digital transformation, improved internet infrastructure, and a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem. By narrowing the gender gap in tech, Digitelles Misr aims to drive both social equity and economic innovation, supporting a more inclusive digital economy for Egypt.

The program underscores both organizations' commitment to supporting women in tech and fostering a new generation of digital leaders in the region
