Samsung QLED Certified as Real Quantum Dot Displays

Sunday 22 June 2025 19:18

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has announced that its latest generation of QLED TVs has received the prestigious ‘Real Quantum Dot Display’ certification from TÜV Rheinland, a globally recognized testing and certification organization headquartered in Germany. This certification affirms that Samsung’s QLED TVs meet international standards for quantum dot display structure and performance, underscoring the company’s continued leadership in the premium television market.

The certification confirms Samsung’s compliance with IEC 62595-1-6, the International Electrotechnical Commission standard that defines the use of quantum dot light-converting units combined with blue light sources in QLED displays. As part of the assessment, TÜV Rheinland conducted a comprehensive analysis of the light spectrum produced by Samsung’s QLED panels. The results showed a clear separation of red, green, and blue light—a key indicator of precise color rendering enabled by quantum dot technology.

Unlike displays using alternative color-enhancing materials, which may suffer from color blending or reduced clarity, Samsung QLED TVs deliver vivid, accurate, and lifelike color expression—a hallmark of high-quality visual performance.

> “Receiving this certification objectively validates that Samsung QLED TVs deliver true quantum dot performance built to international standards,” said Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to drive innovation and strengthen consumer trust as we lead the premium TV market.”

Certified Samsung Models

The models that received the certification include:

Neo QLED 8K: QN990F, QN950F

Neo QLED 4K: QN90F, QN85F, QN80F, QN70F

QLED 4K: Q8F, Q7F, Q6F

Quantum Dot Technology: A Benchmark for Premium Displays

Quantum dots are ultra-fine nanomaterials, thousands of times smaller than the width of a human hair, capable of emitting precise colors based on light wavelength. Their integration into display panels has become a benchmark for technological sophistication in high-end televisions.

In addition to TÜV Rheinland certification, Samsung’s quantum dot technology has also been recognized by Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS) for its cadmium-free composition, aligning with global environmental standards by eliminating the use of toxic heavy metals in its designs.

This dual recognition further solidifies Samsung’s commitment to cutting-edge innovation, environmental responsibility, and excellence in display performance—values that continue to define its position at the forefront of the global TV industry.
