ICT Minister Partakes in Azerbaijan Independence Day Celebration on Behalf of PM

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has delegated Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat to attend the celebration hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Cairo on the occasion of Azerbaijan’s Independence Day and to convey the Egyptian government’s congratulations.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Religious Endowments Usama Al-Azhari, members of the Egyptian and foreign diplomatic corps, as well as representatives from the Egyptian House of Representatives and Senate.
Beginning his speech, Talaat conveyed Prime Minister Madbouly’s congratulations to the leadership and people of Azerbaijan on their National Day. He then praised Azerbaijan’s historic journey—from the declaration of independence in 1918, through its liberation and restoration of independence in 1991, to its emergence today as a vibrant nation with a steadfast vision for the future.
The ICT Minister highlighted that Egypt and Azerbaijan share common values and a strong commitment to aligning their rich heritage with the demands of a promising future. He underscored the significance of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s historic visit to Azerbaijan—the first by an Egyptian president—which laid a solid foundation for advancing bilateral cooperation across various fields, including the digital economy, smart infrastructure, and innovation. This was further reinforced by President Ilham Aliyev’s subsequent visit to Egypt, which deepened the partnership between the two nations.
Turning to bilateral cooperation, Talaat noted the growing collaboration in several vital sectors, especially in ICT. He drew attention to the MoU signed between Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Digital Development and Transport. This agreement aims to foster cooperation in building resilient digital systems, exchanging expertise, supporting youth entrepreneurship, and promoting emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain.
Talaat emphasized that this partnership extends beyond technical aspects, reflecting a shared commitment to harness technology for the benefit of both countries, advance digital inclusion, and build resilient economies in line with the objectives of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Additionally, the ICT Minister highlighted the alignment of Egypt and Azerbaijan’s positions on sustainable development and climate action at the international level. He congratulated Azerbaijan on its successful hosting of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29) in Baku, following Egypt’s hosting of COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh. This succession of events exemplifies the shared vision of both countries to move forward toward a more sustainable future.
Talaat concluded his remarks by underscoring that the histories and futures of Egypt and Azerbaijan are closely intertwined through shared values, mutual respect, and a common vision for constructive cooperation. He expressed hope that these relations will continue to grow, fostering stronger joint efforts toward a sustainable digital future.
For his part, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Egypt Elkhan Bolokhov welcomed the ICT Minister and reaffirmed the long history of friendly relations between Egypt and Azerbaijan. He stressed that Talaat’s participation in the event reflected the strength of these ties and highlighted the intensive communication between the two countries over the past three years.
