OnePlus 16 to Feature 185Hz Gaming Display and 200MP Camera, Reports Say
OnePlus is preparing to introduce its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 16, in China on October 12. Although details about a potential international release have not been announced, the company has begun revealing important hardware features ahead of the launch.
The phone is expected to combine a high-refresh-rate display with a next-generation Qualcomm processor. Reports have also outlined its potential benchmark performance and camera specifications.
New Screen Targets Gamers and Everyday Users
According to information shared by a OnePlus executive on Weibo, the OnePlus 16 will use an LTPO panel produced by BOE. Its refresh rate will reach 185Hz in certain gaming applications, while the standard operating limit is expected to be 165Hz.
The display will feature a 1.5K resolution and bezels measuring just 1.5mm wide, giving the device a screen-focused design.
Peak brightness specifications have not yet been revealed. The minimum brightness, however, is reportedly around one nit, which could help reduce screen intensity in dark surroundings.
Reports also suggest that the panel may deliver power consumption similar to that of a conventional 120Hz display. If confirmed, this could help balance the higher refresh rate with energy efficiency.
Snapdragon Chip and Benchmark Figures
The OnePlus 16 is expected to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor. Previous reports indicate that the chipset has appeared in benchmark testing, although the final retail device’s performance remains to be established.
A leaked Antutu V12 result reportedly shows the phone achieving approximately 5.38 million points with 16GB of LPDDR5X memory.
The report compares that figure with the roughly 4.58 million points achieved by Lenovo’s Y700 tablet, which uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. These figures are based on reported test results and should not be treated as a substitute for independent testing of the final product.
Camera Setup Could Include a 200MP Main Sensor
Photography may be another key part of the OnePlus 16’s hardware package. Previous reports point to a 200-megapixel main camera featuring a 1/1.4-inch sensor.
The reported setup also includes a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, built around Sony’s IMX882 sensor. These specifications have been reported ahead of the official unveiling and remain subject to confirmation in the final announcement.
With the expected China launch approaching, further information about the phone’s complete specifications should become available soon. Its international release timing, however, remains undisclosed.
