OpenAI unveiled a set of new tools for workplace environments during Dev Day, led by “ChatGPT Spaces,” shared workspaces designed to let teams work together with ChatGPT and personal AI agents in a unified environment that brings team files and ChatGPT-generated content together.

ChatGPT Spaces for teams

The feature allows employees to save files uploaded by team members, along with content created by ChatGPT, and organize them in a shared space that makes information and requested content easier to access.

ChatGPT Spaces is initially available to Pro, Business and Enterprise subscribers through the ChatGPT desktop app and web, with support for smartphones planned for a later stage.

Meeting notes and automatic summaries

OpenAI has also introduced a meeting tool that can take notes, generate summaries containing required action items, then add that information to the team’s shared space. The tool deletes the audio recording after the notes have been generated.

The feature is initially available through the ChatGPT app for Mac to Pro and Business subscribers, with Enterprise support planned for later.

OpenAI said its “Private Intelligence” system gives businesses a higher level of protection when using advanced AI models, as shared spaces may contain sensitive files and information.

ChatGPT comes to Slack and Teams

OpenAI is preparing to bring ChatGPT to Slack and Teams for Business and Enterprise subscribers. Users will be able to mention @ChatGPT in channels, private conversations and discussion threads to perform tasks, including creating presentations based on conversation content.

With approval from administrators or users, ChatGPT will also be able to access tools connected to users’ Slack and Teams accounts, expanding the range of tasks that can be handled at work.

New document tools

OpenAI also announced “Pages,” a document format that allows users to create text, charts, images and visualizations in a single document, then share them with colleagues for feedback and comments.

Collaborative presentations are expected to become available, with the option to export them to PowerPoint and Google Slides.

The company is preparing to launch shareable profiles that will allow users to showcase web apps and add-ons they have created so others can explore and use them.

Taken together, the new tools reflect OpenAI’s push to expand ChatGPT across workplace environments, moving it beyond a conversational and content-generation tool toward a shared workspace that brings together files, agents, tasks and collaboration tools in one environment.

The workspace approach connects team materials with ChatGPT-generated outputs, while the meeting tool turns discussions into notes, summaries and action items. Slack and Teams integrations would extend these capabilities into workplace conversations.
