Al-Futtaim taps Juspay to unify digital payments across 50 brands in 12 markets
Al-Futtaim has partnered with global payments technology company Juspay to unify digital payment operations across 50 brands in 12 markets, as the Dubai-based group accelerates its digital commerce transformation.
Under the partnership, Juspay will become Al-Futtaim’s payment orchestration partner, providing a single technology layer capable of managing multiple payment providers, methods and checkout experiences across the group’s businesses.
The rollout is set to begin in September 2026, with the first Al-Futtaim brand scheduled to go live during the month.
Al-Futtaim operates a diversified portfolio spanning automotive, financial services, real estate, retail and healthcare, with more than 200 brands represented across over 20 countries.
One payment infrastructure across multiple businesses
The new platform is designed to address the complexity of managing payments across different brands, countries and customer journeys.
Juspay will deploy a multi-level architecture that gives Al-Futtaim central oversight of its payments ecosystem while allowing individual markets and brands to retain local configurations and their own checkout experiences.
The technology will support fraud management, adaptive 3D Secure workflows, local payment methods and network tokenisation, alongside consolidated analytics and reconciliation.
Juspay will also integrate its Breeze commerce stack, a checkout technology designed to improve conversion, customer retention and scalability for digital businesses.
For customers, the project is expected to provide a more consistent payment experience across Al-Futtaim brands while expanding access to locally preferred payment methods and reducing friction during checkout.
Omar Haddad, CEO of Al-Futtaim Finance, said the group views payments as an important part of the wider customer experience, with the partnership designed to create a simpler, more secure and seamless way for customers to transact across its brands and markets.
He added that the infrastructure will support Al-Futtaim’s continued growth and wider digital ambitions as consumer expectations around convenience, choice and security continue to evolve.
Juspay processes 350 million transactions a day
The agreement also gives Al-Futtaim access to a payments infrastructure operating at significant global scale.
Founded in 2012, Juspay currently processes more than 350 million transactions per day and has surpassed $1 trillion in annualised total payment volume, according to the company. Its platform operates at 99.999% uptime.
The payments technology company works with more than 500 enterprises and banks and has operations across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Latin America, Europe, the UK and North America.
Nakul Kothari, Head of APAC and Middle East at Juspay, said Al-Futtaim’s scale requires an infrastructure capable of supporting multiple brands, markets and payment service providers through a unified system while maintaining a consistent customer checkout experience.
Building towards AI-powered commerce
Beyond consolidating existing payment operations, Al-Futtaim and Juspay are positioning the new infrastructure as a foundation for the emerging shift towards agentic commerce.
The concept involves AI agents becoming capable of carrying out parts of the shopping journey on behalf of consumers, potentially including product discovery, purchasing and payments.
Paul Carey, EVP Cards, Payments & Fintech at Al-Futtaim, said bringing payment operations across 50 brands and 12 markets onto a unified infrastructure creates a scalable foundation for growth and innovation.
He said payment orchestration could also become an important enabler of agentic commerce as AI-driven interactions increasingly influence how consumers discover products, make purchases and complete payments.
The partnership comes as large regional businesses increasingly seek to consolidate fragmented payment infrastructure while retaining the flexibility required to support different payment methods, regulatory environments and consumer preferences across individual markets.
For Al-Futtaim, the move brings payment operations across a significant part of its multi-sector portfolio under a common technology architecture, while providing individual brands with the flexibility to adapt their checkout experience to local markets.
