Egypt’s Mobile Wallet Transactions Surge to EGP 2.2 Trillion in H2 2025, Accelerating Financial Inclusion

Mobile wallet transactions in Egypt have recorded remarkable growth, with the total volume reaching approximately 1.7 billion transactions during the period from July 1, 2025, to December 30, 2025. The total value of these operations amounted to an estimated EGP 2.2 trillion.

This massive volume reflects a continued national shift toward utilizing electronic wallets as a primary channel for financial transfers and payments, coinciding with the broader integration of digital services into daily consumer habits. Transaction types span across peer-to-peer fund transfers, bill payments, e-commerce purchases, and direct retail point-of-sale settlements.

According to the Economic Magazine report released today by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), the total number of registered mobile wallet accounts climbed to 61.5 million by the end of December 2025. Furthermore, the CBE highlighted that approximately 959,000 Quick Response (QR) codes and Request to Pay (R2P) endpoints have been deployed nationwide to facilitate seamless electronic collections across the mobile ecosystem.
