Sherif Medhat Joins The United Bank as Head of Corporate Communications
The United Bank has appointed Sherif Medhat as Head of Corporate Communications, bringing more than 18 years of experience in banking communications, brand management and marketing to the lender as it moves forward with its growth and market positioning strategy.
Medhat joins The United Bank after a career spanning some of Egypt’s major banking institutions, where he has worked across corporate communications, marketing communications, digital marketing and brand development.
His appointment comes as The United Bank seeks to strengthen its corporate identity and communications capabilities alongside its wider growth plans, placing greater emphasis on how the bank engages with customers and communicates its brand across traditional and digital channels.
A significant part of Medhat’s career was spent at Banque du Caire, where he worked for nearly eight years and played a role in the bank’s brand transformation and marketing communications strategy.
He joined Banque du Caire in 2018, during a period that saw the bank refresh its corporate identity and expand its multi-channel communications activities. His responsibilities later covered marketing communications, advertising, digital communications and brand management.
Medhat was also involved in a number of the bank’s strategic sponsorships and brand-building initiatives, including its partnership with English Premier League club Arsenal, as well as marketing campaigns supporting the opening of new branches.
His tenure at Banque du Caire also coincided with a broader shift toward digital marketing, with greater use of technology and digital platforms to improve campaign performance and customer engagement.
Before joining Banque du Caire, Medhat spent around four years at Bank of Alexandria, where his work covered field marketing, partnerships, sponsorships and brand activation.
That period came as Bank of Alexandria continued developing its corporate identity following its acquisition by Italy’s Intesa Sanpaolo Group, giving Medhat further exposure to brand transformation within the banking industry.
Earlier in his career, he worked at Bank ABC Egypt in marketing campaign management, in addition to roles with marketing and consulting companies.
The breadth of his experience across banking brands has given Medhat a background that combines corporate communications with marketing strategy, digital engagement, sponsorship management and brand development.
At The United Bank, he will now bring that experience to the lender’s corporate communications function as the bank works to reinforce its brand, strengthen stakeholder engagement and support its next phase of growth.
