CBUAE Governor and Indonesian Ambassador Discuss Enhancing Financial Ties and Cross-Border Payments
H.E. Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE), received H.E. Yuda Nugraha, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the UAE, at the CBUAE headquarters. The meeting, attended by Assistant Governors and senior officials from both sides, aimed to explore avenues for deeper financial and banking cooperation.
The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations to support mutual economic growth. A key point of the agenda was linking payment systems to facilitate fast, efficient, transparent, and low-cost cross-border transactions, aligning with the comprehensive development goals of both nations.
Furthermore, the parties reviewed mechanisms to accelerate innovation in digital financial services, a move designed to support the rapidly growing trade and investment flows between the UAE and Indonesia.

Highlighting the importance of the partnership, H.E. Khaled Mohamed Balama stated:

Milestone Anniversary and Future Prospects
H.E. Yuda Nugraha commended the UAE’s advanced digital payments infrastructure, emphasizing that the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries presents a prime opportunity to deepen cooperation between their respective central banks.
The Ambassador expressed optimism that utilizing local currencies for bilateral settlements, linking cross-border payment systems, and continuing the exchange of knowledge will significantly bolster trade, investment, and the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Indonesia and the UAE.
